When you listen to a rap song’s lyrics, you might wonder what particular kind of weed is being rapped about. Probably something expensive and more luxurious than you could imagine, right?
That’s not always the case. Rappers like Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa have gone on the record to talk about their favourite strains. Have you tried any of these?
Snoop Dogg
Snoop Dogg, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop, Snoop Lion – the hip-hop legend has as many aliases as he has favourite strains of weed. According to High Snobiety, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper prefers AllSaints OG, Girl Scout Cookies, and Herijuana, but there are probably countless other faves. After all, Snoop is clearly a huge fan of getting high. In fact, he once claimed that he smokes exactly 81 times a day – and you know what? We believe him.

Wiz Khalifa
Wiz Khalifa is practically synonymous with weed. Numbers don’t lie: nearly 70% of Wiz’s songs are about weed, according to a blog post from 2015.
In fact, weed has put Wiz in trouble before. The Pittsburgh Pirates were once reprimanded by Major League Baseball for simply allowing Wiz to throw the first pitch at a home game – all because the rapper wore a “legalize it” t-shirt. That scandal hasn’t aged well for MLB, considering the governor of Pennsylvania showed his support for legalizing recreational cannabis use in 2019.
Wiz has such a rich history with weed, so what’s his favourite strain? According to Leafly, his favourite strain on the market is OG Kush – unless you count Wiz’s private, personally crafted strain, Khalifa Kush.

Schoolboy Q
ScHoolboy Q has albums full of material to get high to, from the Yeezy-assisted “That Part” to the house party banger “Man of the Year.” So, what’s Q’s favourite strain?
In 2013, the TDE-signed rapper told an interviewer he prefers Soul Assassin OG.
“It’s my favorite O.G. That’s the best O.G. That’s all I really smoke,” he said.
Action Bronson
N.Y.-born Action Bronson is a triple threat: he’s a rapper, a chef, and an author. His last book, Stoned Beyond Belief, came out in 2019. If that book title doesn’t give you an idea of how much Action Bronson loves weed, we’re not sure what will.
In a Youtube interview, Bronsolino said his favourite strain is Hardcore OG Shatter, made by West Coast Cure.
Killer Mike
Atlanta rapper Killer Mike is known for his work in duo Run the Jewels, his acclaimed collaborations with legendary duo Outkast, and his political involvement – he has been vocal about his support for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 and 2020 U.S. elections.
He has a few favourite strains of North American weed. In the United States, he prefers Sour Diesel, but up North, he prefers Jack Herer.
